How might we enable users to save content so they can easily access it at a later date?

After launching the Explore section, users had a great way to find content — but no way to save it for later. Feedback quickly flagged this as the most requested feature post-launch. I led the design from discovery to delivery, taking a holistic approach that covered user education, empty states, adding and managing bookmarks, interaction feedback, and the types of content that could be saved.

The Process

I worked with UX researchers to pull together feedback from app store reviews, surveys, and interviews, identifying the key themes that would shape the solution. I looked at bookmarking patterns across other apps — terminology, placement, and interaction feedback — then explored different approaches to what could be saved, where to store it, and how the interactions should feel. Three concepts were tested, focusing on location, terminology, and functionality. The feature launched successfully — resulting in a 16% increase in workout starts and a 54% increase in app engagement.
